Napoleon Hill, in his book, Think & Grow Rich, describes Faith as something that is developed through repetition. I always thought that Faith was a soft skill that had no real backing. It was something that was required in order to keep on keeping on. We needed to keep the faith in order to remain positive that we could achieve what we wanted. And that our desire was on its way to us, no questions asked. This was always easier said than done for me.
Napoleon describes his law of autosuggestion. He says, “Faith is a state of mind which may be induced by autosuggestion… Faith is the ‘eternal elixir’ which gives life, power, and action to the impulse of thought!… Faith is the starting point of all accumulation of riches!”
Through autosuggestion we will instill a belief that we will receive something. The subconscious mind will then act on that belief and send it back to our conscious mind in the form of Faith. The subconscious mind will also give us suggestions on how to achieve what we desire.
This tells me that Faith is solid, akin to magic and miracle-making. Faith is a by-product of belief. Therefore, we must believe that we will receive. Napoleon breaks Faith down into something that we can develop. In his chapter “Faith”, he goes about telling exactly how.
Have you read this book? How do you develop Faith? What are your thoughts on Faith?
